Due to a unified organizational structure, it has become difficult for the management to understand the micro issues and provide specific focus to the business problems. On the other hand, management of human resource capital has also been less focused which has resulted in the poor communication process and low motivation among the employees.
The environment in the working condition and operations are changing to that extent that the organizations have to change not only their operations but are also changing the affected societal factors which are directly or indirectly attached to them. For example, the requirement of the changing environment in the case of Alibaba is the geographical expansion as well as product-based expansion requires restructuring of the organizational layout. The dynamism of the changing environment deliberates to understand the importance of decentralized structure and efficient communication process.
Due to the modern management and human relations theories evolution, whenever they clash with their purpose, the organization always tend to priorities the management principles and goals at the cost of the employees benefits, this has resulted in unemployment in various situations of markets. The labor theory has never surpassed the capitalistic theory of business and profits as it is argued that businesses are the first to survive and to provide benefits to other is secondary.
It can be concluded that the modern management and human relations evolution has highly helped to balance the benefits and works between the management and the labor, and has decreased chances of exploitation of wagers. However the theories and their development still needs improvement in the field with strong ethical and value goals and principles through which their evolution path can be channelized.
Evaluation:
Trade unions come together to achieve common goals such as protection of their rights as the most primary and common goal. Other goals can be integrity of the trade, working conditions, collective bargaining power, benefits from the company, safety standards improvement etc.there are high chances that a single worker or wage earner may not be heard of by the management and thus trade unions act as a protective shield for the workers against and within the organization. However the trade unions are not always demanding towards the management,and many a times the management include the representative in their deals and agreements as trade unions better understand the actual working capacity and conditions of the company.
Economic-there have been substantial evidences that labor unions have reduced the inequality in economic terms. Stronger unions have helped to negotiate good wage rates whereas weaker unions have made it easier for the CEOs to increase the inequality.High unionization has also helped to increase the productivity in work as well as in quality of workers standard.It was also found that unions can harm the profitability,employment and business growth. It was due to unions that wage premiums increased with high rates and frequency,however reducing the employment growth and flexibility.
Political-the political leaders have been noted to response to the poor more in the areas where there was high unionization. Lower unionization however was directly linked to the interest of the rich. The restrictive labor policies also noted to be lesser in the areas and regions where unionization was higher.
Health- high unionization was also resulted in lower racial resentment and discrimination in USA.Where members of unions were noted to be high in general and political knowledge. Also suicide and drugs cases have also reduced in wage earners in areas with high union rates.
With this data, it is clear that unionization is very necessary as far as the rights and protection of exiting workers are considered. Whoever the evident were also clear regarding the lower employment levels and employment flexibility which is also not a good sign for the new added workforce. Government intervention in this regard can have appreciable role.
