The leadership of Amazon.com Inc. is one that can be emulated. The company’s chief executive officer, Jeff Bezos, is not only its leader but is also renowned the world over for his leadership style. Bezos is a visionary leader, having transformed Amazon from a mere online bookstore to the e-commerce giant that it is today. His own vision was to establish the world’s most customer-centric company where customers would visit, find and discover anything and everything they could ever want to purchase online. Through his visionary leadership, the company has been able to achieve this goal.

Bezos excellently delegates some of his duties thus ensuring that company operations run smoothly even in his absence. As a result of delegating, the CEO has been able to focus on higher-value activities and spend his time constructively (Cote, 2017). Delegation enables the leader to prioritize tasks, empowers employees, and supports new skill development (Lyons, 2016).

Bezos’ commitment is another leadership trait that can be emulated. The CEO has exhibited the highest level of commitment to Amazon steering it to the greatest possible levels. Through commitment, effective leaders inspire and attract people. It is a sign that the leader has the convictions and believes in the cause (Johnson & Suskewicz, 2020).

Bezos’ leadership style can be classified as transformational. Some of the traits indicative of his transformation leadership include his simplification, motivation, determination, mobilization ability, innovation, and facilitation (Grădinaru et al., 2020). Bezos is an effective leader. He has been able to lead Amazon as one of the most successful disruptive companies in the world, using a culture of change to drive engagement. This has enabled Amazon to be the market leader in the e-commerce industry. He exhibits perseverance and resilience and motivates his employees to attain greater success at the personal and company level and this makes him a very effective leader.
