The rising cost of energy bills (gas and electricity) in the UK and internationally has been one of the main items in the news in recent times. On the one hand, some argue that the measures taken to combat climate change, particularly cutting back on the production of fossil fuels, will keep energy prices high and result in significant economic damage to the middle class and the most vulnerable populations. On the other hand, environmental groups and proponents of sustainability argue that addressing climate change through low-carbon transitions and discontinuing reliance on fossil fuels is an emergency and should not be delayed. In light of the strong views expressed by both opponents and proponents, what is in your opinion the best way forward for managing the rising cost of energy?
