Prepare a Daylight / PV solar analysis of a case study building along with a discussion about Net Zero Energy ( NZE).
Propose further design improvements to the case study building and demonstrate an understanding of the impacts of material specifications on WLC including impacts on Country.

Assignment objectives

Student Tasks and Deliverables
Prepare an individual (digital) illustrated 6 page A3 report that demonstrates knowledge of the principles of Daylighting, PV Solar, NZE parameters in the context of the selected case study building thermal simulation assessment task. Discuss NZE in the context of the Australian building regulation context and suggest further optimisations to the case study building along with a discussion about material specification in the context of WLC and impacts on Country for First Nations people :

1. Prepare a baseline daylight analysis of the case study building and then conduct an optimised glazing design to demonstrate an improved daylighting outcome .

2. Prepare an annual PV Solar production analysis using the SEFAIRA model prepared in Assignment 2 to achieve a Net Zero annual operational energy outcome.

3. Discuss the difference between minimum building regulation compliance and Net Zero Energy.

4. Propose further design improvements to the baseline case study building that includes the following elements : 
a. Internal acoustics – including different material specifications
b. HVAC systems and specification
c. Water efficiency
d. Waste Management

5. Discuss the impact of material specification for building design that considers Whole Life Carbon and impacts on Country.
