The state of single motherhood comes with many life challenges which impact the health and well-being of single mothers and their children. Research demonstrates that single mothers encounter many challenges in the transition to and the state of being single mothers, including inequalities and inequities of health involving various determinants such as employment/income, housing, education, discrimination and social acceptability. These socio-economic factors play a key role in the life journey of single mothers.
