Module Rationale
This module addresses the BPS core curriculum training in the fundamentals of quantitative statistics. This is a laboratory-based module designed to give you the skills necessary for understanding and utilising research methodologies and analyses. You will be introduced to methods for summarising and describing patterns in data, and how best to communicate these in tables and graphs. You will learn how to assess if these patterns in your data are significant – and also how to determine if they are meaningful. You will also learn to communicate findings from your own research activities in the conventional format of laboratory report – the basic template of journal articles.

Anticipated Learning Outcomes
By engaging successfully with this module, a student will be able to
• design and undertake an appropriate investigation to systematically test a research hypothesis(es)
• summarise and analyse research data using the appropriate descriptive and inferential statistical techniques
• conduct these data analyses using jamovi software and interpret the output of such analyses
• effectively present the findings from your research study in the format of a standard lab report 

LEARNING, TEACHING AND ASSESSMENT:
Students will be supported in their learning, to achieve the above outcomes, in the following ways:
The blended teaching format of this module will be delivered weekly via a meld of lecture and workshop (lasting for up to 1.5 hours), additionally you will also be directed in your learning through a study guide workbook, a 30 minute online anytime screencast to complement your workshops, and online sources and podcasts.
