Task 

Reinforced Concrete Design and Steel Design 

This project is expected to give the third year students an opportunity to work in groups to practice the studied topic in “Reinforced Concrete
Design and Steel Design 2” courses by designing and then analysis a proposed composite floor with a reinforced concrete columns for given requirements and details of designing a composite structure. The final design is required to be submitted within the last week of this semeste (Winter 2019). The project will be given of the final mark of “Reinforced Concrete Design” and “Steel Design 2” courses. All the calculations must be printed, in a written design report, and drawings of the sections and reinforcement details must be drawn using AutoCAD. Intermediate submissions are required. References may be used to support your design procedures.
A hard copy of the design report and a in-class presentation will be done by each group. The mark will be divided into 30% of the mark will be considered for individual presentation and 35% for the group data show slides and 35% for the printed submission.

The Design Case
It is required to design a concrete structure hanger in Belleville region for a sand store purpose. The dimensions of the required store are: (3# m
x 2# m). The information collected from previous years shows that:

The owner asked to have a clear vertical distance of not less than 4.0m.

The expected structure for the building is:

• A composite steel roof structure by having a concrete either solid or steel deck slab.
• The slab is to sit on a concrete girder (beam), which is to be designed to sit, as simple supported connected, on concrete columns.
• The columns are to be of reinforced concrete columns to sit on a concrete isolated foundation.
• The side walls to be of concrete block walls to fill up the spaces between the columns.

The design is required to be according to Ontario Building Code and National Building Code.
