You must answer the following question:
Investopedia has defined economic justice as “a set of moral and ethical principles for building economic institutions where the ultimate goal is to create an opportunity for each person to establish sufficient material foundation upon which to have a dignified, productive, and creative life.”
Further, in describing Nobel Prize Winning Economist Amartya Sen’s Idea of Justice, Roger states that “[j]ustice arises not from a blueprint, but from a process of open public reasoning in which as many potential policies, strategies or institutions are considered as possible.”
In thinking about the definition of economic justice and Sen’s approach to justice, examine the role of using a lens of economic justice to improve current mainstream economic approaches. Why does thinking through this lens matter for economics?
You may choose to focus your discussion on one specific issue (i.e. working poor) or discuss the more general approach economists take (i.e. use of markets). Either way, in your examination you should consider what works well, any criticisms, and ways to build a better approach by expanding current views.
