Organisation Profile
The imaginary organization is a healthcare service provider, namely a private hospital located in the Perth CBD. It is one of the most popular hospitals in Perth and has more than 1000 staff including physicians, nurses, and other support staff. The hospital provides 24/7 service and relies heavily upon the Internet connected systems or Internet of Health Things (IoHT). Each employee has a unique ID card with RFID tags that also serves the purpose of an access swipe card. Based on the job description, the employees have different access privileges. Not all the employees have access to a computing device while at work, but they are entitled to free Wi-Fi on the premises.

The IT department of the hospital is comparatively small. It has a head of IT and a couple of analysts looking after the databases, day-to-day operations, and network infrastructure. The website of the hospital was developed by a contractor a few years ago and has not been updated since 2015. Currently, there is no IT or cyber awareness training culture in this organization and no multi factor authentication is being practiced.

Recent Incidents
• An employee clicked on a lottery offer link while using the hospital Wi-Fi network on his mobile phone during a break. Although he could not find anything in the link, his phone has been overheating from that point on, and his phone battery has started to drain much faster. Within a few days, most other hospital employees have started receiving spam texts from that employee.

• One of the IT analysts has been experiencing some heavy web traffic on the hospital website from a distant country. He thought it might be due to the popularity of their hospital. However, within the next few days, the hospital website was down for 6 hours and could not recover as there was no backup site. As a result, the hospital lost more than $25,000 due to this downtime.

• One of the data analysts who keeps track of predictive analytics and business intelligence recently noticed some irregular data. For example, the patient address details are identical for a great many different patients. Despite efforts by this data analyst to determine why this is the case, she could not find any legitimate answers for such unusual patient record patterns. Although she tracked down the logs, she was unable to find anything anomalous.

The hospital board of directors has employed you as a Cyber Security Consultant. The board has asked you to thoroughly analyse the security issues based on the recent events. After analysing and investigating the incidents, you are to prepare a formal report that will identify the root cause of these incidents along with your proposed recommendations based on industry best practices. Your investigation report from this case study will include but not be limited to the following:

• Executive Summary (suitable for a non-technical audience).
• Thorough analysis and explanation of the incidents, i.e., how, and why they occurred in the first place.
