Select a branded product at retail level in a shop you are familiar with. The product will be processed or manufactured in the same country as the retail shop. List your likely data sources for the assignment. The project as described requires approval from the unit co-ordinator. 
The branded product that I have selected is smiths chips. Smiths have manufactured and sold their products in Australia since 1931 and still do, to this day. This product is sold across all the country. The product type that smiths falls under is foods and the location I have chosen for the product to be sold at the retail level is Woolworths.  

Data sources-
The likely data sources that will be used for this assessment will be based around the official website for smith chips. Australia food timeline also gives more of an insight into the history of the company and what has been changed over the years to meet supply and demand for the company. News articles from the past will also be used to look further into the value adding and the supply chains. 

1. For that product, identify the supply chain’s actors and value adding stages, the volumes involved, the major prices and costs at each stage, and identify and explain the form(s) of governance in place. Provide detail of your method, data and sources, and assumptions. 

2. At the retail outlet, calculate the Economic Order Quantity for the product, and derived measures of order frequency and flow. 3. At the manufacturing or processing stage of your supply chain, construct an optimal distribution plan for the product, and interpret your result. Identify possible improvements based on your analysis, and additional scenarios that you specify. Provide detail of your method, data and sources, and assumptions. 

4. For an establishment at the manufacturing or processing stage of your supply chain, identify a 15- month optimal Aggregate Plan, and interpret your result. Use the excel matrix provided, which has all internal balances installed, but provide your own data. List your data and assumptions. Identify possible improvements to the aggregate plan based on scenario analysis. Is there a clear best Aggregate Planning Strategy? Explain your conclusions.  

5. Identify and explain the actions taken on supply chain co-ordination in this supply chain. Drawing on the results from Qs 2-4 above, identify the actor taking these actions and which supply chain performance metrics will be affected. For THREE such metrics, suggest methods of estimating them and provide an opinion on what levels might be reached. Comment on the extent to which governance contributes to, or subtracts from, good co-ordination. Provide evidence for your answers, particularly from Qs 2-4 above.

6. Identify key information flows in the supply chain, and the assets and procedures in place which contribute to data visibility, data integrity and data inter-operability. Explain how these contribute to the supply chain performance as addressed in Q 5’s metrics.
