The accounting standard IAS 36 Impairment of Assets provides some general principles that need to be followed by organisations with respect to how they measure their assets. You are required to:

1. Explain the general principles in relation to when and how to recognise an impairment of assets;
2. Provide details of some recent ‘real-life’ examples (eg: at least 2 companies) of some major impairment losses recognised by organisations and explain how the respective organisations disclosed information about the impairment losses within their financial statements and supporting notes; 
3. Discuss the implications of how the above organisations recognise the impairment of assets in their financial statements. 
4. Your report should be written as a business report format with sections such as Executive summary, Introduction, Main body, Conclusion and Reference list.     

Part B: Oral Presentation (10 mins oral presentation)

You are required to do the following:
• To make an oral power point presentation (in the SAME topic).
