Assignment Task

Description: Students will be required to submit a 3,000 word assignment which will be due on the date shown above. The topic will be related to being a manager in the aviation industry. All students are to submit their assignment electronically through ‘Turnitin’ which is a plagiarism checking and submission tool. The Learning@Griffith site will include a tab for ‘Assignment Submission’.

Assessment Plan

Students are strongly encouraged to review the marking rubric that is used as the basis for marking assignments. Electronic feedback will be provided collectively and individually. The paper is to be in the format specified in the Griffith Aviation Writing Style Manual (WSM).

Major Assignment

Set Question: Describe how the major course themes of planning, organising, leading and controlling apply to a real world situation in regard to an aviation organisation and its ability to survive and recover from a pandemic. Students are invited to consider the set question in regard to an airline, an airline group or other aviation industry organisation to demonstrate knowledge on the course material (Lectures 1 to 6). You can choose either:

(1) a successful airline/group/organization – but you will need to highlight what makes it distinct or unique when compared to its competitors from a management perspective; or

(2) a struggling or bankrupt airline/group/organization – but you will need to highlight why it is failing or failed in the market from a management perspective.
