Scenario 1: The XYZ Fashion Styling Company is currently operating in Sydney and is preparing to launch in Melbourne. Their target market is best described as “corporate women aged 35-50 who want to look professional and fashionable, but don’t have the time to follow fashion trends”.

Scenario 2: The Macleay Mobile Phone Repairs is currently operating in Melbourne CBD and is preparing to launch in Sydney CBD and Perth. Their target market is best described as “corporate men and women aged 25-45 who have purchased a smartphone that needs repair, but don’t have the means to purchase a new one”.

Question 1:

Your Task: Prepare a summary report for the Marketing Manager of the selected company which includes both a SWOT and a PESTLE analyses to help the marketing department organise the launch of their new location.

Scenario:

A large frozen food manufacturer, Great Southern Foods, is planning to launch a new range of microwavable frozen pasta and sauce meals using the brand name Bella Pasta. It will be distributed through supermarkets, service stations and convenience stores. The broad target market is best described as “busy and active men and women aged 18-45 who want good quality, nutritionally balanced meals, without the hassle of having to cook”. The Marketing Manager is planning an extensive promotional campaign to support the launch.

You have been asked to develop a promotional plan for the company. The major promotional objectives will be to create awareness for Great Southern Foods and to increase loyalty of your current customer base.

(a) Describe the promotional element/s that you would consider critical in meeting your promotional objectives, and indicate why you have chosen them.

(b) Give specific examples of how you would apply (i.e. how do you intend on implementing) your suggestions in a ‘real world’ setting.
